Manor House Ruins & Gardens
Amazing things happen when you slow down, and the Manor House Ruins and Gardens is the perfect place to take your time. Because here you’re connected to a place, a story, a different time, an extraordinary setting: a historic home in ruins and its storied gardens. Explore what remains of the fine 19th-century Italianate villa built in the 1840s by businessman Godfrey Barnsley for his beloved wife, Julia and stroll the classic boxwood parterre garden that graces the front of the once grand manor. Learn about the family and their history through photos, artifacts and information at the museum. More than that, it’s a delight for the senses: the light through the trees, the aroma of the flowers and the impressive sight of the ruins are all an invitation to lose yourself in your surroundings.
