Such Pleasures
A signature new dining experience by Chef Shaun Doty
Welcome to Jules, a new restaurant presented by Chef Shaun Doty and the culinary team at Barnsley Resort. Inspired by her travels, Jules welcomes you in for dinner, cocktails (or both), and sets the stage for pure enjoyment.
Here, you’re invited to gather, linger, and savor a journey through the seasons in a setting as warm and sophisticated as the food itself. Delight in abundance as Chef Doty brings together rustic Southern ingredients and timeless techniques with the bold simplicity of wood-fired cooking. The result? A menu that’s generous in spirit and rich in flavor.
After a loving restoration of the 19th century farmhouse by celebrated interior design firm David Thompson Studios, Jules is more than a restaurant—it’s a gathering place where time slows, conversation flows, and every detail is designed to delight. Whether you’re toasting in the cocktail lounge, relaxing fireside, or enjoying a leisurely dinner, we welcome you with open arms, generous spirit, and impeccable care.

The inaugural dinner menu at Jules draws inspiration from Southern traditions, Japanese cooking styles, and European refinement. The menu is Chef Doty’s homage to the ingredients of the South, a delicious abundance sourced from the resort’s farm, local gardens, pastures and fields, fused together through the alchemy of fire and global culinary techniques. Jules is open for dinner only.
Setting the tone for a convivial evening ahead, Jules welcomes guests into an expanded cocktail lounge with a communal table, cozy booths and 16-seat bar among the seating options. Reservations are not required for the cocktail lounge and bar. Guests are welcome to enjoy craft cocktails, bites from the bar or dine from the Jules dinner menu at the bar.
The dress code at Jules is smart casual. We recommend polished yet comfortable attire. Gentlemen are welcome to wear tailored shorts with casual shoes. No hats in the dining room.
Dining at Jules is available to the public. Please call 770.773.7480 ext. 1 for dining reservations.
Yes—Jules is situated next to the pedestrian-friendly cottage village, near Town Hall, making it easily accessible on foot.
There is no kids’ menu available at Jules. Smaller children and picky eaters may be more comfortable dining at Woodlands or Biergarten.
Jules is inspired by Julia B. Barnsley, the daughter of Godfrey & Julia Barnsley, the original founders of the Woodlands estate where Barnsley Resort is located today.
Our Jules of today is re-imagined as a convivial, yet worldly traveler who delights her guests with stories of her adventures and travels. Whether gathering her menagerie of friends for a cocktail or lingering over an intimate dinner, Jule loves nothing more than sharing the delight in abundance of our local farms, pastures and fields when she returns home to North Georgia.
Jules is led by Chef Shaun Doty—formerly of Atlanta’s The Federal (a James Beard semifinalist), Bantam & Biddy, and other acclaimed restaurants—bringing three decades of culinary expertise and global experience.
Yes. The Salon is a private dining space within Jules featuring a cherry wood Lazy Susan table, original brick fireplace, and elegant finishes—ideal for intimate gatherings and special events.
The Josper charcoal grill is a Spanish-engineered grill/oven hybrid used at Jules to create a rustic, flame-kissed flavor in dishes like heritage chicken, prime steaks, and trout. It’s central to the restaurant’s wood-fired culinary approach.
Jules features four distinct dining spaces—including the private Salon, cocktail lounge, and two main dining rooms—all housed in a restored 19th-century farmhouse. The interiors mix Southern tradition with refined modern design, featuring reclaimed wood, antique mirrors, velvet furnishings, and bespoke details.
The interior designs at Jules were created by David Thompson Studio who also designed FIG and The Ordinary in Charleston as well as B-Liner oceanfront restaurant at Kiawah Island Club.
Jules integrates sustainability into both its culinary practices and design. Chef Doty plans to launch a fermentation program, use post-consumer materials for menus, and source decor from reclaimed and antique materials. Many ingredients are grown on-site or sourced locally.
